Cleverly painted portraits will deliver a likeness as will a well composed photograph. But a "loaded" portrait (caricature) can reveal more through exaggeration of those subtle characteristics, as well as the obvious.
While the shape of our head, the colour of our hair, the softness or harshness of our features, the colour of our eyes, the shape of our chin define who we are, our true character is revealed by the twinkle of our eye, the winking eye, the laugh lines, the bags under our eyes, the wrinkles on the forehead, the raised eyebrow, the cocked lip, the cheeky smile, the sneer, the piercing gaze, the pout.
And who, in this age of Facebook, YouTube and selfies, wants to see their same old selves.
See yourself, your loved ones, your friends, your enemies as others do.
